Lil’ Mickey’s Memphis Barbeque History

Lil’ Mickey’s Memphis Barbeque began with Charles & Robbie Butler’s vision of having a successful family business.  Charles began creating his barbeque sauce in 1988.  Over the years numerous friends and family requested Charles’ sauce for special events and charity functions.  The overwhelming request and response prompted them to begin the initial planning stages in 2003.  In 2005 Charles and wife Robbie opened Lil’ Mickey’s Memphis Barbeque restaurant in St. Peters, Missouri (St. Louis).  

Ironically, Robbie a native Memphian and no stranger to good barbeque is from a family of Barbeque Masters.  She, along with cousins Patrick, Tony, Mark and Gaelin Neely, of Neely’s Barbeque in Memphis and Nashville (3 locations) as teens grew up under the tutelage of uncle Jim Neely of the legendary Jim Neely’s Interstate Barbeque in Memphis, TN and Southaven, MS (3 locations).  All restaurants are independently owned and operated. Within this family Charles and Robbie will be restaurant number nine.  Two other barbeque restaurants owned by Neely family members are located in Los Angeles, CA; Jay Bee’s in Gardena (Beverly Neely) and JR’s in Culver City (Gloria Jackson).

Charles’ succulent sauce coupled with both his, and Robbie’s barbeque experience, entrepreneurial drive, innovation and passion for a quality product will ensure their success for many years to come.  The restaurant is located at 6716 Mexico Road/Country Hill Plaza in St. Peters, MO.
